Welcome to the Faculty of Computer Science!

The introductory week (Intro Week) is organised by the student council of the Faculty of Computer Science (FaRaFIN) to help you get started with your studies.

• Audience: All new Bachelor and Master students of the FIN (German and English)
• Key events: Course planning, campus rally, city rally, games evening, Instaparty and closing barbecue

Events without specific degree labels are open to all students. Presentation slides and orientation materials will be provided online afterwards.

Before it starts

Open a bank account: From 22.09. to 12.11.2026 you can open a checking account at the Campus Welcome Center. Appointments are booked via the app "Welcome to OVGU".

Citizens' Registration Office: From 28.09. to 17.10.2026 there are special consultation hours at Leiterstraße 2A. Book an appointment: servicecenter.ovgu.de.

Library tour: 06. to 09.10.2026, daily at 09:30 (German) and 10:00 (English), meeting point library foyer. About 30 minutes, no registration needed.

Attention! On 3 October (Day of German Unity) ALL shops are closed.
The Deutschlandticket is valid for regional transport only from 1 October 2026. For bus and tram in Magdeburg you also need the MVB app as a mobile ticket, see mvbnet.de/fahrkarten/handyticket.

The marker IKUS Registration marks events by IKUS that require registration, exclusively via the app "Welcome to OVGU".
