Reminder - Live-FAQ - FaRaFIN

Lydia Munick, 06.05.2020 14:01

Hi,
here's a little reminder, on a matter already announced.
Today at 6pm there will be a small Live-FAQ on Discord (https://discord.gg/dHRrdqu) about the committee elections.
Tim, Till and Lydia will answer your questions about the FaRaFIN. About the tasks, about single positions (appointees, speakers, etc.), about the list and what other questions you have.
So if you have any questions, please come online!

You can't come today? No problem! On Saturday (09.05.) there will be a second round. Again at 6pm via the same discord link.
You can't go there either? Then please send a mail to lydia.munick@farafin.de and Lydia will get back to you as soon as possible!

informations for the committee elections 2020

Lydia Munick, 03.05.2020 19:04

Dear students,

as you might have already noticed via your university mails, the committee elections 2020 will take place from 06.07. to 15.07.
In the period from 18.05. to 05.06. we can therefore forward the election proposals to the election office.

Now, among others, the FaRaFIN will of course also be newly elected. Therefore we want to call on you to think about whether you want to be on the list of the election proposal of the FaRaFIN.

Of course we would like to give you the opportunity to inform yourself in advance. Because surely one or the other question will come up in your head.
- What does it mean to be on the list?
- Is it important to be on the list?
- Which positions can be filled and what are the requirements and tasks?
- If I don't want to fill a position, how can I get involved otherwise?
- ...

Of course we want to discuss and clarify all these questions with you (also individually). For this purpose there will be a small Live-FAQ on Discord (https://discord.gg/dHRrdqu) on 06.05. and 09.05. at 18 o'clock in each case. That means some of us are online and answer all your questions.

If you want to be on the FaRaFIN list, please contact Lydia (lydia.munick@farafin.de or on Telegram @lydiamun). She will then arrange everything for you.

Do you have any other questions about the committee elections? Then just post them on the above mentioned Discord-Channel or write to Lydia.

Your FaRaFIN

Information about the Semester

Kilian Pößel, 02.05.2020 18:44

Hello,

there is new information about the course of the current semester:

1. Large-sized exams that were cancelled in the 2nd exam period in March can be held starting in the end of May. For information about your specific exams please check your university emails very regularly. Examinations on a small scale can already be held under the given hygiene regulations.

2. The examination period after the summer semester could possibly be longer than usual. This is made possible by the decision of the Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs that WiSe should start on 1 November instead of 1 October this year. This could become necessary if examinations from the aforementioned examination period at the end of March are (only possible to be) taken after the semester, or if, for example, the exhibition halls and other large examination locations are needed more frequently in order to comply with the existing regulations. BUT: THIS IS NOT YET OFFICIAL INFORMATION. THIS ONLY SERVES AS INFORMATION ABOUT A POSSIBLE DECISION, SO THAT YOU CAN ALREADY PREPARE YOURSELF FOR IT AND WILL BE LESS SURPRISED IF IT BECOMES NECESSARY. :)

3. The rector expects an opening of the federal state. Similarly, Prime Minister Haseloff has indicated that the "quality of contacts" will improve next week. But the state government will not make the decision until tomorrow. This means for the university that there will be a return to the campus. However, it explicitly does NOT mean a return from online teaching to classroom teaching. The COMPLETE SEMESTER will take place ONLINE. However, by opening up the campus, it should be possible to use the rooms and Internet access again (in accordance with the distance regulations) and, if necessary, to offer courses that urgently require attendance (i.e. laboratory internships).

4. There should be more consultation hours with the lecturers. However, this is in the hands of the respective lecturers.

5. If you notice more effort than in a normal semester for a subject, you should inform the lecturer immediately. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can also contact us and we will contact the lecturer on behalf of the student body to prevent any tracing and possible discrimination.

6. There is immediate aid from the university (financial), the first round of which is to be paid out on 15.5., and from the StuRa and the FaRas (food and toiletries), which are to bridge the time until the payout. In addition to both emergency aid measures, an email from the StuRa will be sent to your university email address in the course of the evening.

Furthermore, more rooms will be equipped for video teaching in the future, so that digital formats will increasingly complement classroom teaching in the coming semesters.

That is all for now.

Many greetings,
Kilian

PS. The newsletter for May will follow on Tuesday. April has been lost in the turmoil, because a lot of things have changed all the time.

Study with children or relatives in need of care

Lydia Munick, 21.04.2020 13:37

Hello people,

the following survey is aimed at students who have to look after children or relatives in need of care in addition to their studies. It is especially about the support by lecturers and the university, but also about when your events take place:

Survey for Electives Subjects

Lydia Munick, 21.04.2020 13:35

Hallo Leute,

https://survey.farafin.de/index.php?r=survey/index&sid=159244&lang=de

Viele Grüße
Euer FaRaFIN

PS:
Die Umfrage bezieht sich natürlich auf das letzte Semester. Wir werden auch in der Umfrage selbst die Texte anpassen.

COVID-19: Information for all FIN students

Kilian Pößel, 31.03.2020 13:50

Concerning the start of the summer semester 2020 at the FIN

Dear students of our faculty,

In order to give you a good introduction to the courses of the summer semester 2020 in the current situation, the Faculty of Computer Science (FIN) will make teaching materials available online in digital form. For our first-year students, additional online preliminary courses are also offered by our student council (farafin). We kindly ask you to note the following information.

For first-year students:

For all students:

- From 06.04.2020 to 19.04.2020, students can already be provided with additional information and materials on the courses in order to familiarize them with the digital teaching contents and platforms and thus enable them to get started with online teaching as easily as possible.

‐ The courses at the FIN, as regulated by a decree of the Ministry of Economics, Science and Digitization of Saxony‐Anhalt, will start on Monday, 20.04.2020.

We wish all students a good semester start. Stay healthy!

The Faculty Administration The Dean

Prof. Dr. Andreas Nürnberger

Further information:

- ZOOM campus license will be available (for teachers and students)
- Further tools (e.g. Jitsi, Big Blue Button, Teams) will be tested-> Background: Save bandwidth of single tools, protection against failure of a tool

- Enrollment should be done uniformly via LSF (if possible until 6.4.). The LSF should at least contain the link to the teaching content in Moodle/eLearning.
- Before 20.4. there should be no preliminary examination work to be done (exercises that are included in the admission to the examination etc.).
- Attendance replacement courses do not have to take place exactly in the slots, it is also possible to do them asynchronously. If synchronous, then they should happen in these slots, whereby these could then possibly be shifted again. Shifts should be kept to a minimum.
- Individual events may not take place because attendance is required (internships, for example).

- Final papers: Defence via video conference possible after request to the examination board
- Oral exams: will be postponed or in cases of hardship (last semester, otherwise unnecessary extension of studies e.g.) Application to the examination board possible

- In the winter semester 2020/2021, lectures at universities and universities of applied sciences should start uniformly on 01.11.2020.

Corona-News 2.0 | student crisis team

Lydia Munick, 29.03.2020 18:17

Dear fellow students,

we have received numerous emails with problems from you and were able to answer most of them. Once again the call: Write us about your Corona problems, especially if you have lost your job due to the crisis or if you are not able to earn money at the moment: crisis@farafin.de Also the Stura and the rectorate need hints from us, the students to be able to react.
Some information:

  1. Prof. Mossakowski and the Examination Office have made the arrangement that theses can be submitted as PDF files as long as copy shops are closed throughout Germany. However, it is then necessary to hand in the bound copies later. You also have to send a signed sheet with thedeclaration of non-use of aids by e-mail to the examination office.
  2. A decision is in preparation which should allow the defence of the theses via video conference tools. This will hopefully be adopted by the Faculty Council next week.
  3. Some courses of other faculties (e.g. the FHW) start already on Apr. 06. (as online courses). Please pay attention if this concerns you.
  4. You can currently validate your student cards for the next semester in building 6. Especially affected by the coming months are our freshmen. We are working on distributing important information to them.

Dear first semester students: If you have acute worries about the start of your studies, please contact us. We try to help. We are currently trying to implement and enforce some measures in the background to make the coming semester easier. We hope to be able to tell you about them in the coming week.
We will keep you up to date.

On behalf of the crisis management team,
Jonas Hielscher (Faculty Council), Lydia Munick (FaraFIN), Kilian Pößel (FaraFIN), Dominik Weitz (Examination Committee)

Dear fellow students,
